“Sir, are we freeing the gnolls from the lich, or the lich from the gnolls?”
“I think we should free them all.”
Three weeks later, in the ocean, the beholder saw a gray haze along the horizon. Land.

"Sir, the Evil Mages.. "
"Not Evil, but morally different.."
"Yes, the morally different mages.. They refused."
"Refused? What do you mean, refused?"
"Well, not as much refused, as rather said nothing."
"For once, you're right - silence is refusal of our eminently sensible payment plan. Send in our debt collectors."
"They may get fried as our, eh, last negotiator?"
"What's a few fried staff to the Bank? There is a principle on stake!"

Our mages are finding study difficult

From the diary of Dark Schneider:

This is Moira writing. Schneider dear is busy organizing things in our new city Fulford so he asked me to write the entries this month.

3rd of April Year 2

We had a battle with Gyperboreya (30). Slaughtered 53 of their centaurs. Fireballs are getting boring. We want new magic spells to play with. I'm thinking about studying the winds. It looked like fun when Schneider dear boosted the speed ouf our rafts by manipulating the wind.

4th of April Year 2

Zodd is having a barbecue today. He's roasting centaur meat again. It's gross. I don't know how Talindra can stomach it. Well, she's a ranger. I guess she got used to gross things. She and Zodd seem happy together. It's a good thing. Ranger or no I would burn her alive if she tried anything with Schneider dear.

7th of April Year 2

The Skalperian mages decided to leave us soon. It was about time. Their skeletons are creepy. They don't smell anymore but the rattling of their bones gives me shivers. Especially the centaur ones. Why can't our allies practice more natural arts and summon cute things like birdies and wolfies?

13th of April Year 2

Leira is pregnant. She told the news to Schneider dear today. I don't remember ever seeing him baffled before. So sweet! Now he treats Leira like a princess. I'm jealous. I want to get pregnant too. It's not so easy with us elves. We aren't as fertile as other races with a shorter lifespan. Cross-breeding between elves and humans are extremely rare. I'm surprised that it happened at all with Leira. Schneider dear is really virile.

18th of April Year 2

While Schneider dear was at another council with our allies we decided to have a girl's night. Invited Talindra and the Filcist mages Antonia, Alessia and Antoinette. They call themselves the triple A-s. They used to run a betting ring in the basement of an inn back in Teanside. They called it the Triple A Inn-sewer-ants-mage-antsy. They are quite decent for human women. They brought with them some produce they grew with earth lore. Tasted delicious. Earth lore seems boring though. But so is enchanting swords and we do enchant swords for our troops. Maybe we should study earth lore as well?

23rd or April Year 2

We went shopping with the other girls. Never been to a city before Fulford. They have so many things for sale. Leira decided to have a tarot reading for the coming child. The old gypsy woman says it will be a girl. We told Schneider dear but he says he doesn't believe in tarot. He wants a boy of course.

29th of April Year 2

Our stone prospectors found rootstone in the mountains. Soon we'll have a pretty magetower for ourselves with soundproof walls. It will help in our studies and stop neighbors from complaining about the noise we make at night with Schneider dear.
Silver Eclipse (15)
No, this is not "crowded", we would say.
But we definately see more and more activity around.

Gray Ones (16)
The ocean breeze had elusive iron smell. Bloody sunset caused a slight sense of anxiety.
The Chosen Few (17)
"The Ice Dwarves surrendered but they are still guarding the town?"

"Yes Sir!"

"Send in the penguin army with fire swords again!"
King of the Penguins (18)
Oh, how exciting it is when longships finally sail across the ocean and find new lands and discover elsewhere besides our island.
Chaos Empire (19)
Proud members of Skalperian faction are very happy, that cooperation seems to be the keyword for interfaction relationships in this world. Killing some and enslaving rest is the most proven way to achieve that.
Skalperians (24)
It said that everything could be bought for right amount of money.
What is the price for 3 grown ice wurms and where can one get them ?

Sildoral was flabbergasted. An envoy of those undead conquerors from up north had reached his place.
He probably had some very interesting things to say, but Sildoral couldn´t concentrate on something that mundane as normal diplomatic talk right now. All his thoughts were ocupied by the clothing this envoy wore.
It was the clothing of an official ambassdor of the Empire of Lund. That was the very first sign of his old home. And why was it on the body of some undead? What had happened here? Was this ambassador killed by the reputedly undead emperor in the north while on a mission? Or was something even more worrying going on?
He had to ponder this.
Elves of Lund (26)
Travellers have arrived at the harbour of Nornglen via a raft.

We greet these peaceful travellers and hope they will have a pleasant stay.

You better not go northwards, evil awaits you there.

Lost Sea Trading Company (27)
(Stories from ancient Darealone family book - Tales from Torsee Darealone - XII)
Torsee had got it. The prize he was looking for at the undead crypt. Somehow he felt very happy. Getting it was a chance of fortune.

Who would guess it was lying at the bottom of a shallow lake deep in the crypt tunnels.
His memory was somehow fuzzy. He reminded there was something looking for it too. He had to fight for it with him, and then escape, he was escaping back to surface.

He was racing for life, racing to the light and the fresh air, being pursued, almost there,...

Torsee woke up. He was relieved. He now remembered quite well what had happened. They had entered the crypt and found many tunnels inside. In the dark they soon got dispersed, Torsee had to work out discipline that's for sure.
The scattered groups fought skeletons, but managed to kill much of them. Victory was at hand. Until they found treasure chests lying in a marble building in one of the tunnels.
Torsee gave the order to bring them back to surface to the main group he was leading. He also gave orders for some men go look for the others and tell them to come back to the army camp.

Still it took some time to find the way back. So it was no surprise, when news came that some of the groups who had entered had not returned, like some of the men that Torsee had sent. The army was uneasy, it was easy to see that they were frightened and no one was interested in coming back to the crypt, not even to help their lost comrades.

The army spent the night, at the camp, near the crypt. There was not much rest. Everyone looked at the crypt, waiting for someone, or something to come. But not one or the other. Everyone were silent, as was the crypt.
It was a long night.

But that was yesterday. Today, Torsee was interested to look what they had found in the crypt.
One thing was for sure. Or this expedition was a disaster or a success. There was no middle term.
This is Paradise (29)
With the chasms leading to dead ends, we start to head out at sea, we have ships, and need to explore around us.
The Filras (3)
Knife and axe workers
Took pleasure, from the night until the morning - yeah!
But a Goblin ran out of the woods,
He sat down at the table and said:
"I've never had a drink with the cool ones!"

"Your words are useless trash!
We'll drink better and eat better!
We need your clothes right away -
Told us who you are!
Us who you are!"

"I and my people live in the mountains!
I'm a guy-be healthy!
In his circle.
I can't be rude
And make fun of me,
You can't play with me!
Believe it,
I, like you, know how to offend!"

"Your words are useless trash!
We'll drink better and eat better!
We need your clothes right away -
Told us who you are!
Us who you are!"

"Listen Goblin,
You talk too much!
Pray to your gods!"
"But I'm like one of you!"
"Don't worry,
Your head will be cut off,
And then they'll let you go!"

"Here came the Goblin himself!
And there will be something for us to do!
He didn't come all this way for nothing,
In a barrel with Braga to drown him!"

And the hour of fun came,
And the Goblin got into a barrel of booze!
And he surfaced more than once,
But I got a stick on the top of my head!

"Your words are useless trash!
We'll drink better and eat better!
We need your clothes right away -
Told us who you are!
Told us who you are!
We'll drink better and eat better!"
Gyperboreya (30)
So, once more, people think they can disrepect the Light and dont pay for it. We will make them pay, but we will take our time. The Evil minions are moving their assassins and think we cant see them. Surprise waits. We will triple our efforts and call back our expeditionary fleet.
Sword & Shield Forever (32)
Getting boats going is taking too much time, but more farsight is
coming online. Finally, we can really begin to understand the world
around us.
ClanJaguar (38)
The "guards" have not killed anybody.
Our fighters were trained enough to stand all the blows.
Beastmasters (39)
Spring cleaning successful! Now to building..
Miserable Maniacs (40)
And so it happened that the grefish people began to settle in a new continent. The natives seemed to be largely peaceful and the Greyfish decided to be good neighbours.
Greyfish (43)
"LATE!!" screamed the treasurer. "What do you mean you delivered it to the editor late?"
The hapless wood elf tried to explain - it had been very difficult trying to deliver articles to the Times, what with the need to gather berries before winter came, but the treasurer was having none of it. The sheer emptiness of the unclaimed treasury could bring ruin to the faction.
Children of the Four Winds (44)
Trees! Blessed trees! The assistant could barely believe the scout's report. It had only taken a long ocean voyage, a forced march across plains and a hike into a swamp, but there were actual trees! Living Wood! Vegetation with height in excess of width! The possibilities were astonishing. Ships. Wagons - actual motion of the ridiculous iron and stone stockpiles. Maybe even... trade. The assistant barely dared to think the word.

But that would have to wait. The new assistant was at the doorway. "The guild leaders will see you now, Primarch".
The Worshipful Order of Guildsmen (45)
Our happy settlers are working the new empty lands, making them profitable and productive. Profits for all around!

Although some seem to be jealous of this outside our happy island. It is strange.
Little House on the Prairie (49)
We must prepare to descend into the underground to fight the monsters that live there.
We already have right next to our town a lair inhabited by marsh creatures.
It will be a good test before going down ...
None of the towns visited were captured. We must help our neighbors to participate in the development of the island comprising 14 swamp regions, 11 mountain regions, 6 forests, 3 plains, 11 deserts, 11 tundra and one jungles. Some ends remain to be identified and we count at least one gate and 2 shafts.
This makes at least 57 regions for the 5 facitons identified on this island.
Enough to live in peace and build a prosperous economic region.

Logistics was always the hard part of governance. Unfortunately, it was Barlo's job to make logistics happen. Going through the numbers again was necessary after so many setback's to the Fire Dancers reign. Even a small miscalculation now, would be difficult to recover from. He felt the weight, He knew the risks. He would work quietly and in silence. He would succeed where others failed.
Fire Dancers (55)
Some factions don't seem to have good manners, is this an invite to for us to be reckless? Never reckless, only calmness and control.
Semigallians (6)
How could I forget, that these brutes, who call themselves mages, lack the basic understandings of the craft. Teaching them about artifact creation, while they don't even dabble in all the three foundations. My mistake, of course. How should they know what they don't know? I should've been paying more attentions to their studies.
No magic stone was found in my mountains. The only things that makes it more disappointing is the fact, that we've not found precious metals either. Thus, an agreement was made, and scouting party departed for out neighbour's lands. Finally, making friends starts paying off.
However, a lot of other misfortune events delayed construction work in our capital. Need for housing for our mages becomes even more dire. We're forced to stupid repetition of the basics of the subject, instead of pursuing most arcane matters. That should be fixed in a couple of months, if my calculations are correct.
Chaotic Neutral (62)
Oh, 30 days in month is not enough to read all reports and write all orders. Too much papers!
Royal Pinguins (69)
A wild wind threw splashes of seawater into the captain's face.
“Nearby is the ocean” - he thought.
Moon Knights (7)
It's getting crowded.
And looks like another factions aren't very friendly.... maybe I should build a ship?

Darkness is raising.
Cities falling one after another. Brotherhood of Sorcerers is preparing for a next step.
Eternal Empire (8)
The number of fireworks displays and puppet shows taking place in Pelton are a bit excessive. My Mages have focused their lives on entertaining the populace for silver. Hopefully this is the life that they wish for themselves and will not become bored with the pursuit of magic economics.
Ovuna (80)
It was to be the first moonless night of the month. Sangarios knew their intentions. That afternoon he and his companions entered the center of the square. Word quickly spread through the settlement. The council of elders appeared at the edge of the square. People murmured amongst themselves. Then Sangarios outstretched up his arms upward. With that the skies darkened and his host appeared. The city guard laid down their arms and came to his side. Shortly thereafter the skies cleared. The council elders will make good goat herders.
The Phrygians (83)
The winds of change are upon us. Three factions converge and the coastal places are being gathered under the banners. Allies are sought.
Luxadom (86)
The fleet finally set sail! A glorious day for the Riders of the Storm! Okay, so the “fleet” was actually only a handful of goblins on a raft… BUT! Keeping the goblins sober long enough goblins to actually build something that didn’t sink the first time it (finally) was launched into the water was a miracle in itself! Akhorahil knew it survived the month long trip across the water, because he had already received reports from the sailors that they found a village full of creatures that were half-men half-horse… Centaurs!
Riders of the Storm (89)
Fishmonger Cloud was admiring sea maps. Rough gems deposits, giant turtles herds, various monster sites... Dark League's Rangers... what ? Sounds terrible? So close to our heart of operations. Interesting. Dark League..
Fishmongers (9)
Despite the seemingly fruitful landscape, there are no herbs to be found.
What terrible disease struck this place to wipe out all the small plants and leave only trees?
Social Distancing (91)

It is rumored that some people mistake peacefulness with weakness.
The people are calling for more taverns.
