Muha spent the entire spring of the second year in the sands of Ba'eld, hoping to provoke the sphinx to attack, along the way, carrying out organizational tasks, including connecting the jungle with the desert cross the continental road, which in the future could connect all the cities of this elongated and deserted Allod, which he called home.
No attack followed. In May, finally, the part of the road allowing entry into the jungle was completed. And the riders, one discharged from Calma, and the second from the Jiage plains, should have arrived, which means that instead of passive waiting, Muha could seize the initiative.
In June, the Sphinx fled again, but now it didn’t matter, the riders were in strategic positions and were ready to intercept wherever he moved. The only thing that needed to be achieved was the location of the army so that, thanks to the completed road, in time to get to Lair with the second sphinx in one month.

Large numbers, big powers?
Or - just some men, but in right place, in right time? And no, I am NOT speaking about assassins:)
Or may be just diplomacy?

The Elf closed the last parchment. The orders were ready. The warships were already sailing to their prey and the orders would synchronize the assault with the allied forces.
That was the last easy target around though, and soon, the Silver Hand would have to launch much more risky and remote operations...

It was not a good for a little lizardman who just reached the coasts of Ehchoti. Two hundreds of bored gnolls were just passing by and as they had nothing to do they have beaten lizardman to death. Poor lizardman, nasty gnolls ...

As soon as the ships arrived Thauk gathered the men he had recruited during last months.
They assaulted the city hall where the guards had their barracks.
This time there were no mages supporting the attack, but Stimbank was no major city, only a small fishermen town belonging to the Stim islands.
Thauk wondered where the mages were, probably doing what mages do best.
Thauk smiled.

Finally after more than two years the day had come when kingdom decided to face that dragon. Lines and lines of orcs stood in orderly rows and were distributed swords. While it left quite impression for impressionable locals, the high priests were less impressed.
"So, king," High Priest of Cermoud asked, "what is exact strategy how those orcs are supposed to fight a great beast that sprouts fire and may I emphasize, may fly high in the sky?"

"The strategy is actually quite simple," came short reply, "orcs will stand and wait for the attack of dragon and stab him when he is in reach. The Holy Cone has said that dragon's fire has actually quite short range unlike the fireballs that Cone has granted us."

"And how orcs are supposed to catch the dragon?"
"They are not supposed to. We wait for an attack and only issue is that we may have to wait for long time. But in that case we will have plenty of time to convert locals to the Word of Cone. So no downsides, you see."

That was easy. The skeletons and undead didn't even make it past the first round. The spoils were a bit disappointing though. Maybe we should attack something less dead.

Surveying the damage, it became clear the enemy was after one thing....rootstone? How badly in demand was this precious substance, that people came far and wide to the one mountain with a really big supply?

If only Deeland had resources like this, its quest would have been completed already.

"...and now their watch is ended" concluded the Primarch, and the crowds below roared in approval.

"They seem rather upbeat for a funeral" commented the assistant. "Funeral?" queried the Primarch, fixing his assistant with a curious look "what funeral?" "The whole watch is over thing" stammered the assistant, now wishing he'd payed rather more attention than he had to the Primarch's oration.

"No, the watch is literally over. They're paid off, can go home. We've outsourced the whole miserable war business to people more than halfway competent." "Is that wise?" asked the assistant. "It's economic" replied the Primarch, and the assistant dared ask no more.

A new game seems to be catching on in town and the surrounding provinces these days. Groups of players on horseback each equipped with a long club ostensibly attempt to score the most points by knocking a ball through the opponents goal at the opposite end of the field. However, one could easily argue that true objective is to inflict as many bruises on ones opponents. The game generally lasts the whole day, and a good time is always had by all.
The Phrygians (83)
Akhorahil met with his tactician and warband leaders and watched as two new warbands were assembled from goblin conscripts hired at the nearby town. The additional warbands, and the training they were being given, would help ensure his plans would go much better than the disaster a couple months ago. Some of his wizards came and watched, and those with combat experience gave pointers when they saw something that didn’t look right. The goblins that showed the best skill with the training weapons were noted and would be rewarded with finer blades when their training was complete.
