Good Mr. Hagen seems to have raised quite a few Beastmaster flags at the ring of his armies. What do these flags mean? Are they a declaration that the lands inside this ring are safe? Are they an invitation to Beastmasters to come visit? Although the little folk mostly cannot see these flags, it is reported to us that in the unsafe lands beyond the ring of Good Mr. Hagen's armies, there are also many cities with little folk flags. Do we have a flag? Since when? What is on our flag? What color is it? Why didn't anyone ever tell me?

These little folk flags all fly in the unsafe lands, beyond the ring of Good Mr. Hagen's armies. We haven't seen any in the interior. Are these an invitation to little folk to come visit? Is this a trick by the little folk liberation front loonies, trying to lure me and the High Priestess out of our safe hiding so we can be challenged to individual combat? Should we venture out to investigate, or are these flags some game being played by nobles, too dangerous for our pay grade?

Religion Column
---------------

The gods built this world for fighting, not for cooking contests. Not even for flag embroidery contests. It seems sad that no one wants to accept the challenge of the faction with Beastmasters on their flag. Instead we see large armies slaying large armies.

Stockwood Column
----------------

In the waning months of year 3, (should be winter months, but winter never comes here), Our Eldest suggested that little folk should migrate south across the Tala, to dwell in the promised city of Stockwood. By spring many milled about Stockwood and its immediate surroundings. This was a terrible idea, as even with our best tactician (a goblin), we had no hope of replacing the Old City Guard. In December, Sehjord, a tactician of Good Mr. Hagen's that we had no idea was living in Stockwood, made a single man attack on the Old Guard. We only wish we had come to his aid; with his wise guidance, the little folk in and surrounding Stockwood could easily have replaced the Old City Guard. But we didn't come to his aid, and the Old City Guard quickly cut him down. Kind of sad, he was a nice old man, and knew everything one could know about how to deploy an army. In January, 50 of Good Mr. Hagen's knights arrived and effortlessly aided the Old City Guard in their transcendence to the next plane of existance. In February, those knights and their allies efficiently took control of Stockwood. The little folk were unable to enter the city, but the little folk civilians and entertainers were allowed to continue in their old jobs. For the next three months, March, April, and May, Good Mr. Hagen's guards kept order in the city, and little folk did manual labor, entertainment, or production, as suited the skills they had. During these 3 months the nobles had a large number of personal duels. These are apparently a strange affair, with one expert warrior facing one other without interference by the guard or by any friends. We little folk don't understand the purpose of this dueling, it seems to always leave one nobleman dead. Several Ravens died in these duels of honor. In June Good Mr. Hagen's guard must have turned their attention to limiting dueling; there were no duels, though a fight did break out between two factions the little folk could not identify, and Good Mr. Hagen's guards did not interfere to stop that fight inside their city. The little folk had heard from the new masters of the city that the little folk could in the future no longer produce everything everywhere nearby, and we awaited the new masters' instructions about where we were allowed to perform civilian activities and where not. But before that reply came, in July, the Vikings of Hornwood came in and drove out all of Corvin Ravens' guards. New nobles, will things be different for the peasants now? In August, the new viking overlords questioned a lone goblin wearing unrevealing clothing, and 89 soldiers of the garlic army came to the defend the lone goblin's privacy. 526 viking guardsmen died, 3 survived. The lone goblin (and his 89 friends) then sought out and killed the surviving viking guardsmen. Wow. Garlic armies are tough.

Beggars' Column
---------------

The garlic army (🧄💂)is now in control of Stockwood. We wonder if they are going to tell us to get out of the buildings we have been squatting in? We wonder whether the new rulers of Stockwood will be hiring beggars this month? The garlic army is so small they can't collect all the alms the believers of Stockwood will want to give away this month. Should we try sneaking in one last month of begging before they can hire their own beggars, or should we seek day jobs, expecting their guards to post a rule forbidding begging? If we all had enough silver in our pockets to buy a months meals, then we could take the risk and beg, which pays much better than honest work. But if we beg and begging is forbidden, we will go hungry. What does an honest job pay these days? What if 2/3 of us work for wages, and the other third beg? Would fewer of us starve? Some idiot says we should study building and quarrying, then build inns and roads so the day jobs pay better. But that's a foolish idea; if we wanted to do that, we would be builders, not beggars.

LFLF Column
-----------

South of the equator, or everywhere south of the Tala, the little folk are free. Well, sort of free. We are free of Our Eldest and free of the High Priestess. We thought the nobles above us might be the Vikings of Hornwood, but a garlic army of gnolls and orcs chased off the Vikings of Hornwood. Will this bring in a new round of duels between noblemen? We didn't see many nobles here; the garlic army is an army of very, very tough commoners. Maybe the little folk could learn something from them.

Come join the little folk liberation front south of the Tala for a discussion of commerce and agriculture. We can also discuss whether little folk could ever be as durable as almost immortal commoners of the garlic army, and maybe even whether garlic is a good ingredient for biscuits.

If you live in the (burning) lands north of the Tala, the little folk liberation front has meetings there too. If you can dodge all the fireballs of the north, the northern little folk liberation front has the same very good biscuits served in the south, even new fireball baked recipies. Come join a discussion of whether we in the north want to join our brothers and sisters in the south in rejecting the tyranny of Our Eldest and the high priestess, and choosing our own ways of being enslaved to the overlords of the hour.

Underworld Column
-----------------

We continue to have problems with dragons. One of the eastern factions slew one of the dragons, but the two that drove back Thane's men (or were there any men inside all that metal?) are still alive and still keeping us from discovering the underworld.

Peace Column
------------

We have recently learned that flags of little folk have appeared at many cities. Does this mean someone reads my peace column? Is this a bid for peace? Or is this just a trick to draw Beastmasters and their allies into an interesting war?

Many times, the sky galleons of the Children of the Four Winds have delighted people by taking to the air and showing their pretty balloons off in the evening sun. Lately however, they have taken to flying around in circles. It's as if they're trying to catch up with someone.

Gortsmeg the Scrivener sighed and gazed forlornly at his leathern tankard, as small of stature as he himself was.

Hrruff-grrrh sat, clanking, at his table, her plate and chain of browned iron abjectly failing to settle into any position remotely resembling comfort.

"How now, good goblin? What news upon... upon.... you know, that bridge where the market takes place?"

He took one lukewarm swig.

"I despair, good gnoll. I have laboured for so long to craft the agitprop for the Lord Fendahl, and my heart just isn't in it any more. What is the point of the most uplifting oratory, the most incisive dialectic, if none hear or read it?"
