What are these sticks meant for? They appear to make people feel better. That's probably a good thing! Now let's not point them at the monsters! Perhaps these other slightly glowing sticks will work better for that?

Jer'zel sniffed the air in the ruined old tower. "Musty, but someone's been here lately. This has to be where those lizardmen are hiding."

"Why are we even bothering about this?" his companion, Horus, asked. "There's big armies moving through on the other border and we're poking around in this swampy old basement."

"Command thinks there's monsters out here...or, rather, we know there are monsters out here, and command thinks they're in this area. And we've got to secure our own borders before we start playing around with big armies."

"Fair enough," Horus responded, "but I thought we were looking for living trees, not a couple of lizardmen in an old ruin." The two soldiers finished searching the old tower and moved on to the next building, their torches flickering in the long shadows cast by the crumbling old walls. Behind them, someone (something?) moved, seemingly assembling itself out of the swamp. Horus looked back, confused, then resumed his reluctant search.

The generals are rushing around trying to get orders to the troops.  Don't worry about the outer provinces - they'll have to fend for themselves.  Just make sure the army knows where to go!

The acolyte gave a sound somewhere inbetween pleasure and pain as he - with some effort - removed his boots.
"At last, two whole weeks of vacation; isn't it strange how with nothing to do there's so much less time for sending orders and answering letters?"

The initiate looked at him and frowned. "The lawn needs mowing, the hinge on the bedroom door needs repair, the games the children have outgrown have to be taken to the charity shop, and the shopping must be done for the weekend festivities.  Just because you are taking holiday from your day job doesn't mean you get any time to lie around and give orders to our troops!"

The acolyte grimaced, and started putting his boots back on.

Ed celebrates enchanted slumber.  This world looks rather different than it did six months ago.  Many Celebrants have died.  Much Celebrant treasure is gone.  Our southern lands are locked in ice.  Panssy has survived, and shall now attempt to rescue Observes Ice and Describes Southern Islands, but her mission may be difficult now.  It appears there was, during the Celebrant sleep, a brief time when travel would have been easier, but it is unclear whether that is still true today.  Panssy gathers some silver and heads south as fast as she can to try to rescue the two scientist observers at Wretched Castaway's island.  She takes some extra silver in case the wretched castaway also wants to be rescued.  Perhaps Wretched Castaway shall decline, staying behind to watch, and to turn out the lights at the island when everyone finally departs.  First Panssy has to get there, which might take awhile in this weather.

Ed celebrates the life of Gives Marsh Grain.  She tried to learn to make cookies, travelling to a place where ingredients were available, spending months studying cooking, and then she was slain in a battle between two allies.  Sad.  Note to self; when two allies fight, try not to join the festivities.  Gives Marsh Grain will be missed.

Observes Ice and Describes Southern Islands celebrate a mysterious benefactor.  Observes and Describes have been saved from starvation by a mysterious benefactor.  Now if only they had some way to get this information back to the mainland.  Observes Ice wonders if Pansssy is even now freezing her tail off trying to get back and rescue them.  Observes Ice wonders how far the freeze has progressed during the Celebrants' long sleep, and wonders how the mainland is coping with the freezing.

Chieftess Oma celebrates autotax.  Chieftess Oma wakes from a long slumber to discover that sleeping Celebrants do not tax, at least not when in so deep a sleep that they miss the turn entirely..  Celebrants have never tried this "autotax" thingy, but now wonder whether it is made for just such possibilities...

Spite of Daspol wonders who here thought he should study carpentry.  Spite guesses he might as well farm; we certainly don't need any more wagons.

Ciriko Ifiipiro, or perhaps the ghost of Ciriko Ifiipiro, celebrates the truce of Feldsale.  Ciriko wonders what ever happened to that truce during the Celebrants' long sleep?  It seems that the truce did not hold.  Ciriko doesn't expect to survive, he wonder sif any of his friends nearby will survive.  Once upon a time Ciriko thought he could fight, but the standards of skill, weapons, armor, and squad size all seem to have increased during the Celebrant long slumber.  

Chieftain Wishes celebrates new factions.  Where are the CATO factions that used to be my neighbors?  And who are these new factions, General Disasters, Dark League, Children of the Four Winds, Mantzikert who are my neighbors now?  Weren't they all far away at the edges of the map before?  Six months and flying mounts make distances short.
