Is it, really? If so, then either all the action is
happening out of sight and no one is talking about it in the
Times, or the ending is a bit dull.

Maybe there is exciting maneuvering happening now around the
drain in the center of the sea, but if so, no one is writing
about it and Squirrels aren't seeing it. We are just waiting
for the end to come. Perhaps we should have joined a large
alliance now making preparations for the end; that would at
least have made the sixth year more exciting than it was.

All this complaining is lame, squirrels. If we want better
stories we should tell better stories, not complain that no
one else is telling them for us. I'll try to start. In the
far north, squirrels farmed every region that other factions
did not want and that squirrels could reach. Squirrels did
not ever develop much advanced industry, though. We felled
wood but not (much) ironwood or yew, we dug up iron but not
(much) mithril, we carved stone, but not rootstone. In time
the world passed us by, the simple goods of the first years
became less and less important as the years went on. We had
thought we might become able to hold out against faction two
with mundane equipment and large numbers, and we still think
that should be possible, but for the most part we failed to
do so. It takes too many unskilled squirrels to survive the
largest creatures. This month squirrels failed to survive a
storm giant attack. We also failed to survive a yeti and ice
wurms attack. We had 65 squirrels with weapons and a little
skill against the Yeti and ice wurms, but even when we hit
the Yeti and ice wurms do not die; like trees, Yeti and ice
wurms are not felled in a single blow. Perhaps in the next
world we will train and equip more archers; squirrels cannot
easily hit Yeti or ice wurms.
